You’ve heard people say that so-and-so is “green with envy” when the person being spoken about is showing signs of jealousy. How about when you are sad and you tell others you’re feeling “a bit blue today”. Why do we use colours as idioms when talking about our emotions?

It’s because we are referring to our auric field and its corresponding colour.

It is the same when someone says “red looks good on you” when you are wearing your favourite outfit. You are attracted to some colours more than others because of the way that colour makes you feel and look. What is happening is that the colour is complementing that of your aura.

You are surrounded with energy

What is an aura? Simply, it is an energy field that surrounds all things. Everything is made up of energy, it’s a fundamental law of science and this energy is given out and received at different frequencies. So it is with us. Our bodies emit energy which is so subtle that it’s hard to detect with the eye.

But, maybe you can sense the energies of places and people. For example, have you ever entered a room and suddenly had a feeling that something is wrong? You had no proof of what had occurred before you walked in, but you could sense it.

What about people? Have you ever met someone and took an instant liking to them? It’s like you both connected on a deep level.

What you may not understand is that you are picking up on the energy.

We use terms to describe others: “He/she shines”, “He/she is dark”. Everyday we employ idioms to talk about people that have a basis on the personality of the person. And this personality is a reflection of the energy that that person is releasing or absorbing.

And you, just like everyone else and everything else, also has an energy field that can be affected by the environment and those around you. That is why you can detect the positive and negative “vibes” of people. Your energy body, that is your auric field, is being influenced and you can feel it.

You are multi-layered

You are more than simply your body. You are multi-layered, like a beautiful rainbow.

When people can see auras they will tell you that they can see blue or green or some other colour. That’s because our auras contain seven layers with each layer emitting a particular colour due to the vibrational frequency of that layer. That should come as no surprise when one considers that energy is light and light is energy and light is spread across a spectrum of colours with each hue being detected according to its frequency (light-wave).

Your aura extends from your body out to several feet around you, like a bubble. Here are the 7 layers that make up your auric field:

Layer 1: Your Etheric Body, which is the one closest to your physical body and is red. It is associated with your root chakra.

Layer 2: The Emotional Body, which is seen as orange due to it being connected with your Sacral Chakra

Layer 3: The Mental Layer is seen as yellow and is linked with the Solar Plexus Chakra

Layer 4: Your Astral Body emits a green hue and is related to your Heart Chakra.

Layer 5: The Etheric Template Body is associated with the Throat Chakra and is seen as blue.

Layer 6: The Celestial Body which is purple has a connection with the Third Eye Chakra.

Layer 7: The Etheric Body is connected with the Crown Chakra and is sensed violet.

The lower layers (Layers 1 to 3) are more connected and associated with your body and emotions, whereas the higher layers (Layers 5 to 7) are affected more by spiritual activities.

So, you can see that there is more to than meets the eye, literally!

But what happens if we let our guard down when it comes to looking after our auric field?

I feel drained

How often have you dealt with someone and then felt like you have been completely sucked out of energy. You were fine when you first entered into the situation with this person, but they have drained you of your energy.

We talk about “psychic vampires”, those people who possess the ability to siphon our energy tanks and we are in need of refueling.

Or we may have “one of those days” at work and come home feeling totally exhausted and just want to rest. It’s as though we have been battered all day and our defenses have been worn down. Guess what? Your defense has been worn down!

Your aura is your “defense shield” against negativity and when it gets battered, it will get weaker and weaker and you end up with that feeling of being drained. It’s because you have been drained. The negative energy has put holes into your auric field and your positive energy has leaked out, leaving you feeling depleted, tired and maybe a bit negative.

And, when negativity, stress and anxiety start to take hold of you, then it can affect your emotions and health.

That is why we need to learn how to protect ourselves when it comes to our aura. When we do so, then we will feel that the things that bothered us don’t seem to impact as like they used to. Nor, will the negativity of those around us seem to knock us.

It’s time to strengthen and protect your auric field.

Protecting your auric field

There are several ways you can protect your aura and give it that boost when you feel like it has been hit with negative energy. You can meditate, do visualisation and even use crystals to restore your auric field.

Here are several techniques to help you bring your aura back to full strength.

The Light Bubble

Visualise white, purifying light coming down from the Universe and entering through your crown. Feel the light covering you, cleansing any negativity and pouring over you and enclosing you under your feet. Imagine you are completely surrounded by a bubble of white, protective divine light. Feel and sense that bubble.

Chakra Meditation

Because our auric field is intimately connected to, and influenced by, our chakra energy centres, we can ensure that our aura shining at its optimum through regularly checking in on our chakras. If there is an imbalance in the chakras, then it means that your aura is going to be weaker. Daily chakra meditation enable you to strengthen and protect your aura.

Combing away negativity

With this exercise you will comb/sweep away the negativity into the earth where it will go through a process of being transmuted into positive energy. What you do is cup your hands, with your palms facing toward you and, starting slightly above your head, bring your hands down toward your feet in a sweeping motion. Picture any negative energy being swept down into the earth. Do this a few times.

Use Crystals

Crystals have inherent properties and some stones are better for protection than others due to their natural frequencies. So, if you want to use crystals to help you protect and strengthen your aura, here are some that you should consider:


Amber has the ability to bring your physical and subtle bodies into realignment and can release negative energy.

Black Tourmaline

Recognised as an all-round protective stone, Black Tourmaline can push away any negative energies. It is able to change negative energy into positive energy.


Bloodstone has a natural property that enables it to cleanse your aura.


Quartz is an amazing crystal for strengthening and protecting your aura. It can repair any rips in your auric field.


To protect yourself from other people’s negative attitudes and to help you overcome stressful situations, then grab hold of some Fluorite. It can also act as an auric cloak to protect your from any psychic attacks.

To use these stones as a means of helping you guard your aura, you can either wear the crystal as jewellery, or place it in your pocket. Another technique that you can employ is to place the crystal on its corresponding chakra centre and allow the stone to rebalance and restore harmony in your chakras. Keep your light shining

We all release and absorb energy and every day we are exposed to and affected by energies around us. Some positive, some negative. When we don’t stay vigilant against the onslaught of negativity that is when we feel drained and tired. It is our aura being depleted and we need to bring restoration to our auric field.

There are ways in which we can protect our auric field. By minimising contact with anything negative will ensure that our auras shine brightly and colourfully. Also, practicing the light bubble meditation where you visualise yourself surrounded by a bubble of white, purifying, protective divine white light will help you keep your aura safe and strong. Other techniques involve balancing your chakras and sweeping any negative energy out of your aura.

According to universal law and the science of quantum physics, everything in the universe is fundamentally made of pure energy that is constantly moving, vibrating at different speeds. As a result, we each have our own ‘vibrational frequency’, which impacts every aspect of our lives.

This is, in fact, where the Law of Attraction comes into play. The idea that YOU create your own reality, and like attracts like. How To Find Your Spirit Animal

In the spirit realm, there are numerous guides willing to help you. Ascended Masters, spirit guides, archangels and angels are all on your side ready to offer you guidance and wisdom. However, there is another member of your spiritual family that is waiting for you: your spirit animal.

But how do you go about finding your spirit animal and why should you bother?

You Are Chosen

You don’t actually find your spirit animal, your spirit animal finds you! This discovery is made when you are usually in an altered state of mind such as daydreaming, in meditation or dreaming. In these times your spirit animal will appear and choose you!

How do you know which particular animal has chosen you? Keep an eye out for unusual encounters with an animal that occurs over a brief period of time. This is an indication that your spirit animal is trying to get your attention!

Pay Attention To Occurrences Around You

To find your spirit animal (by the way, you can have more than one spirit animal) pay close attention to what is happening around you. Here are some ways you can discover your spirit animal:

● When you are out in nature, watch the animals around you and see how they behave.

● Watch for any repeated experiences with a particular animal either in its natural form or through symbolism.

● If an animal suddenly enters your life in an unexpected and surprising way, it could be your spirit animal reaching out to you. Remember, your spirit animal chooses you not the other way around!

● Look for animals appearing in your dreams or in images during your time of meditation.

● If you are reading a book about animals, there may be a certain animal that sticks out for you, as though it is reaching out to you from within the pages of the book. Make a note of which animal or animals seem to stand out.

By being alert to the animals that appear in your life shows that you are open to receiving your spirit animal’s contact. They will come to you.

How To Find Your Spirit Animal Through Meditation Or Dreaming

When you meditate or go to sleep to dream you are reaching an altered state of consciousness. It is through this that the spirit realm can reach out to you. So, when it comes to finding your spirit animal here is how you can do so through either meditation or dreaming.

Finding Your Spirit Animal Through Meditation

When you meditate, allow yourself to become receptive to whatever intuitively appears in your mind’s eye (which is your Third Eye Chakra and is the energy centre that is open to messages from the spirit realm). When an animal appears to you during your meditation, make note of the animal.

Animals Appearing In Your Dreams

At night, when you slip into the land of slumber be aware of any animals that come to you in your dreams. When you are sleeping your conscious mind is in temporary shut down and your subconscious mind is let loose and open to receiving information from the higher realms. Pay particular attention to any recurring dreams in which a certain animal keeps turning up.

Now you have an inkling as to what your spirit animal is, what do you do next?

What Do You Do Once You Have Found Your Spirit Animal?

Once you have discovered what your spirit animal or animals (remember, you can have more than one!) what do you do? It’s pretty simple: Learn as much as you can about that animal!

Read about the animal. Watch videos featuring it or go and observe it in nature. Ask yourself, what would it be like to be that animal? Allow your imagination to run wild!

Also, what are the characteristics of the animal that appeals to you? Why are these traits so attractive to you? How are they reflective of you and your personality? Is there something that you admire in the animal that you wish you could bring into your life, such as courage, peace, a social skill that the animal exhibits.

Your spirit animal reaches out to you to teach and guide you, so allow yourself to learn from it.

Heart Chakra – Anahata

Symbolised by a lotus flower with twelve petals and relating to the colour green, the heart chakra supports the subtleties of love, compassin, generosity, kindness, caring and respect for others.

A balanced heart chakra allows easy communciation and interchange with others. Goodwill and harmoney effortlessly overcome selfish and egotistical attitudes.

An imbalanced heart chakra may express itself in physical illness, breathing problems, congestions, jealosy, fear of intimacy, suspicion and paranoid isolation.

The crystals associated with the heart chakra are emerald, moss agate, green aventurine, jade and peridot.
Green Aventurine

If you are feeling that your heart charka is out of balance try carrying one of theses crystals on you. Wear something green. Search for heart chakra healing on spotify or youtube. Eating foods like avocado, basil, broccoli, celery, cucumber, green apples, kiwi fruit and peas. Mentaly vision your heart chakra being a green colour, vision cleaning and clearing. Females heart chakra rotate clockwise and males rotate anti-clockwise.

Reiki Distance Healing

Distance Reiki treatments are just as effective as in-person treatments, allowing patients to receive healing from afar.

Reiki is non-invasive and is used holistically to restore balance in mind, body and spirit while promoting the body’s regenerative self-healing ability. Its healing energy connects us on an energetic and spiritual level where the healing work is conducted. To understand this, we must first realize that we are more than our physical bodies. 

Our thoughts, emotions, feelings, ideas, perspectives and moral beliefs all exist within us but they are not part of our physical bodies. They are energies that can affect our physical bodies but they are not physical elements.

Our soul or our spirit also forms part of who we are and it is definitely not a physical element. Reiki energy connects on our spiritual and energetic levels. Distant Reiki sessions work because energy is not limited by distance. Distance is a physical limitation only.

We accept other energy frequencies that we cannot see, such as electricity, radios, cell phones and wi-fi. Initially, these frequencies were thought to be too unbelievable to be true, but now they are accepted as normal functioning services. In order for them to work, they have to be tuned in and Distant Reiki works the same way.

The Reiki practitioner acts as a conduit and tunes the healing energy to the person it is being sent to and then it flows through the energy currents that exist naturally. Distance is not an obstacle for Reiki in the same way that it isn’t for cell phones or the internet. 


There are 7 main energy centres in the body, known as chakras. Each chakra is located throughout our body so that it ties in to specific body ache and physical dysfunctions; each energy centre also houses our mental and emotional strengths. When we have a physical issue, it creates weaknesses in our emotional behaviour. When we release the stale energy from the body, it can undo any tightness, stiffness, or malfunction of that area.

The clearing of the energy can also balance our emotional state of mind. The chakra mind and body balance is a two-way street, if there are certain fears and emotions we are holding on to, we experience physical restrictions, too. 1st or Root Chakra

Colour: Red
Element: Earth
Position: Base of the Spine
Objective: It corresponds to the physical body and connection to the Earth. Just like a foundation, it is concerned with the basics of survival: food, shelter, safety, comfort and belonging.

When your Root Chakra is blocked…

  • You can tell if your root chakra is closed if you often feel stuck and sluggish
  • You experience unrelenting stress because of a belief that you must rely on external circumstances
  • You may have persistant financial problems and find yourself in a less-than-ideal career
  • You feel you have been abandoned by your parents
  • You feel you have to survive life and are constantly getting by or going without
  • You hate your body and feel you are not good enough the way you are

When your Root Chakra is open…

  • You have a strong connection with your family and or friends that are like family to you, and as a result, feel wanted and loved
  • You feel like you belong, you are content with your body and are confident with money, managing it well and always having enough for what you need and want

2nd or Sacral Chakra

Colour: Orange
Below the belly button. Looking at the body from head to toe, this is your physical centre Objective: Sexuality, the nature of your relationships, freedom from guilt, pleasure, sensation, creativity and the joys of life.

When your Sacral Chakra is blocked

  • You experience difficulty allowing yourself to become emotionally and sexually intimate
  • You believe sex is bad and that it can hurt you, or your feel you have to be sexy to be loved
  • You feel abused, hurt, and confused and don’t trust that you can be loved for being you
  • You struggle with a healthy self-image
  • You move from one relationship to another, desperately trying to find “the one” yet lacking the sense that you are worthy of love

When your Sacral Chakra is open…

  • You have a strong sense of your sexuality and recognize it as one of your most powerful creative energies
  • You create healthy sexual experiences with others that honor you, you enjoy pleasure in many different ways in life

The lesson of this chakra is to honour others.

3rd or Solar Plexus Chakra

Colour: Yellow
Element: Fire
Position: Above the navel – two inches below the breastbone.
Objective: Relationship with yourself, personal power, self-esteem, self-worth, and freedom from shame.

When your Solar Plexus Chakra is blocked…

  • You feel like a victim in the world and often feel powerless relative to other people and circumstances
  • You give your power away to others as you feel this is necessary to keep peace in relationships
  • You will find it difficult to take action on your dreams due to a sense of powerlessness and low self-esteem
  • You suffer from stomach pains and stomach anxiety

When your Solar Plexus Chakra is open…

  • You have a strong sense of your own power and how to use it in healthy ways
  • You admire others with power and influence and choose to emulate people who are
  • You want to use your power and influence for good in the world

The lesson of this chakra is self-acceptance.

4th or Heart Chakra

Colour: Green
Element: Air
Position: Center of chest
Objective: Love and spirituality, compassion, emotional zone, masculine/feminine of the self, and forgiveness. Love doesn’t mean only love for others; it also applies to self-love and self-acceptance.

When your Heart Chakra is blocked…

  • You are afraid of commitment and feel like you have to please others to be loved
  • You have been hurt by others many times in relationships and now feel like you have to guard yourself from being hurt again
  • You have trouble with giving and receiving love and being compassionate
  • You hold grudges and become needy in relationships, and this often leads to anger and distrust
  • A weak heart chakra can be at the root of heart disease, asthma, and allergies

When your Heart Chakra is open…

  • You are comfortable in your relationships
  • You give and receive love easily, and you feel a heartfelt sense of gratitude for how wonderful your life is
  • You appreciate others and feel compassion for yourself and others without feeling sorry for anyone

The lesson of this chakra is I Love.

5th or Throat Chakra

Colour: Blue
Element: Sound
Position: Hollow of throat
Objective: Your communication center — your voice, your creative self-expression. Speaking your truth, coming from the center of your willpower, listening and being heard.

When your Throat Chakra is blocked…

  • You are afraid to speak up and say what you want or feel
  • You go along with others so you don’t upset anyone
  • You are frustrated because you don’t feel that other people hear what you have to say
  • You get sore throats often and feel like your throat is blocked

When your Throat Chakra is open…

  • You are comfortable speaking your truth
  • You experience others listening to you and you feel that you are heard and honored for your truth

The lesson of this chakra is to speak up and let your voice be heard.

6th or Third Eye Chakra

Colour: Indigo
Element: Light
Position: Between the eyebrows
Objective: Responsible for psychic abilities such as intuition as well as your sense of purpose in life — self-reflection, visualization, discernment, and trust of your own intuition.

When your Third Eye Chakra is blocked…

  • You struggle with finding meaning in life and oftne ask yourself, “Why am I here?”
  • You feel disconnected from your intuition, or don’t feel like you have any
  • You have trouble making decisions and you feel lost when it comes to your spiritual purpose and path in life
  • You feel frustrated that there is something wrong with you as you feel like other people have this intuitive sense and you don’t
  • You get headaches and feel tension in your brow area often

When your Third Eye Chakra is open…

  • Your intuition is your constant guide that you trust and act on with confidence
  • You have a strong sense of your own inner truth and listen to and follow it as it guides you on your life path

The lesson of this chakra is to see the big picture.

7th or Crown Chakra

Colour: Violet
Element: Thought
Position: Top of the head
Objective: This is the connection between you and the divine. It is responsible for spirituality, belief systems, revelation, divine consciousness, and enlightenment. Your brain functions and central nervous system are controlled by the crown chakra.

When your Crown Chakra is blocked…

  • You experience loneliness, insignificance, and meaningless
  • You may feel a strong attachment to material possessions and achievements (and define yourself according to them) and a disconnect from the spiritual side of life
  • You feel no connection or guidance from a higher power, you feel unworthy of spiritual help and are angry that your higher power has abandoned you
  • You often suffer from migraines and tension headaches

When your Crown Chakra is open…

  • You feel connected to a higher power and sense that you are being watched over and cared for
  • You know you deserve immense blessings
  • You feel immense gratitude for the universal love and appreciation you feel towards yourself and others

The lesson of this chakra is live mindfully.

You may feel that more than one chakra is imbalanced or blocked. This is because when one is blocked, the other chakras begin to compensate and either become overactive or under-active.

The best way to start balancing them is to start at the root chakra and work your way up to the crown chakra.
